How far can I drive on one charge?
The distance an electric car can travel depends entirely on the battery size. The majority of fully electric cars can travel 120 to 200 km before they need to recharge. The majority of Canadians travel 60 km or less per day, which is well within the range of every electric car available for sale in Canada. This driving distance can be further increased by Level 3 charging stations, that will fully recharge an electric car in 20 to 30 minutes. Canada has about 100 Level 3 charging stations installed, with more on the way.
For drivers that need to travel long distances on a regular basis, there are a number of plug-in hybrid electric cars available for sale that can travel 40 to 80 km on electric before a gas engine or generator turns on for longer trips.
