Are Electric Cars Expensive?
Electric cars start from as low as $27,000 and go as high as $150,000. Most electric cars fall in the $30,000 to $45,000 range. This is slightly more expensive than a comparable gas car, but there are a number of government purchase incentives that help bring the price down. The province of Ontario offers a rebate of up to $14,000 off the purchase of an electric car, British Columbia offers up to $12,000 and Québec offers up to $8,000. In addition, the cost of ownership is much lower than a gas car, saving you money on fuel and maintenance. In the long run, electric cars are cheaper to own and operate.
